Violinist Morganne McIntyre is a multi-faceted musician who is passionate about performance, music instruction, music theory, and injury prevention. A native of Minnesota, Morganne studied with Dr. Benjamin Sung and Dr. Sonja Harasim before earning her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota under renowned pedagogue Sally O’Reilly. Morganne then attended the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music and completed a Master of Music in Violin Performance under international soloist Linda Wang and a Master of Arts in Music Theory under Dr. Kristin Taavola and Dr. Mitch Ohriner. Awarded a Graduate Teaching Scholarship to DU, Morganne was the teaching assistant for both music theory and aural skills classes. Morganne is highly interested in forms of pedagogies for stringed instruments and music theory, so she combined these two interests to create her master’s thesis titled “Music Theory Pedagogy for the Violin: Cognitive Philosophy and Three Model Curricula,” published through ProQuest. Morganne enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels and is certified to teach books 1-5 of the Suzuki Violin Method, supplementing with material carefully curated for each student.

Enthusiastic about playing chamber music with colleagues, Morganne has participated in music festivals such as Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Bravo! Summer Institute at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Montecito International Music Festival, and Sewanee Summer Music Festival. She has won first place and honorable mention at solo competitions in both Minnesota and Colorado, and was awarded the 2022 “Outstanding Recital Award” for her second master’s recital at DU. She was a member of the Fargo Moorhead Symphony Orchestra for three years and has acted as principal violin for numerous school and festival orchestras. Renowned artists Morganne has played for include the Viano String Quartet, the Danish String Quartet, Pamela Frank, and Midori.

Morganne is currently Adjunct Professor of Strings at Arizona Christian University where she also teaches Aural Skills and Music History courses. She enjoys coaching the string ensemble at ACU and plays violin and viola with ProMusica Arizona. She is also on the music faculty at Scottsdale Christian Academy, is a clinician for school string programs through the Phoenix Conservatory, and is growing her private studio in the Glendale, AZ area. Morganne enjoys playing chamber music with friends, listening to and studying the violin repertoire, and helping students reach their full potential.
